Autumn is here, and all the beauty enthusiasts are busy whitening, hydrating, and preventing dry cracks. But have you taken care of the cracks and 'whitening' in your bathroom? Compared to your face, the internal corners of your home are like the wrinkles that reveal your age. Hongmei has prepared some maintenance tips for you~
The internal corners of the bathroom, where the walls meet the floor, are particularly critical in the overall waterproofing process. Every detail of the construction at these corners must be handled meticulously to ensure an effective waterproof seal. If you're a stickler for aesthetics, you'll definitely love this method for applying the additional waterproof layer at internal corners.
Internal Corner Hydration Tips
To prevent material buildup and cracking of the waterproof film, it is essential to use a waterproof plugging compound to create a fillet (arc) at the internal corners before applying the waterproof coating. Remember this key step! (P.S. Remember the special trowel used for making the fillet?)
Apply a thin coat of waterproof coating at the internal corner.
Immediately embed a 300mm-wide mesh cloth over the wet coating, extending 150mm onto the wall and 150mm onto the floor.
Apply another coat of waterproof coating over the mesh cloth, ensuring no cloth is exposed. The total thickness of the coating at the additional layer should be 1mm. The waterproof coating must be applied in multiple thin coats; never apply it too thickly in one go, as this will easily lead to cracking.
Only after the waterproofing treatment at these detailed joints is complete can the large-area waterproof coating be applied.
